Paula Metcalf Lazar

I like to use oil to paint what I see. Using close observation of everyday objects and surroundings, I hope to inspire others to take a closer look. I am particularly attracted to the natural world and my aim is to evoke an awareness of the simplicity in nature. Using Oil and Cold Wax allows for added dimensions of color and light and has led to further explorations in Abstraction.

I enjoy the painting process, itself. While working, a conversation is created that goes back and forth, above and below, while exploring color, shape, and form. I teach at the Eliot School of Fine & Applied Arts and study painting at Mass College of Art.
