Nella Lush

I draw inspiration from my life and history of the old country, Italy, were I was born, raised and educated.  My art is a true expression of myself and a constant exploration of the relationship between man and its history. 

I explore all genres without following a formula but relaying on intuition and experience while bringing together the alchemy of materials, classical forms and the appearance of centuries of aging.  Even though my inspiration is history of the old I believe that my work has a contemporary feeling. It is the process of surface changing that will determine the final outcome while maintaining a certain level of mystery and intrigue.  I don’t aspire perfection but aspire expression.  I want my art to bring the viewers through a journey of their own while provoking their senses.

I use a variety of materials, oil, cold wax, egg tempera, pumice, marble dust on canvas, linen and  birch boards.
